It happened at Brooks Middle School in northeast Wichita. Police say four students at edibles, which are defined as something you can eat that contain marijuana.
The Wichita Public School district responded with an email to parents saying that there will be consequences for the students involved.
Families in the district were shocked when they received phone calls informing them of the incident and that students needed medical attention.
"If parents would start being parents instead of being buddies with the kids, we wouldn't have a problem," said Hubert Campbell, the grandfather of an eighth grade student.
In its statement the school district encouraged parents to be aware and asked parents to talk to their kids about how dangerous it is to eat candy or anything else that isn't clearly marked.
This incident comes less than a month after a similar incident happened at Coleman Middle School where five students also needed medical attention after consuming edibles.
"It's about all parents. The kids that are getting hurt and killed. It's not black and white, it's every kid, every kid is going to do what the other kids do," said Campbell.
